For the person revising the security deployment on the day. You decide which points stay open, who stands on them and what search standard each one runs.

What you will be able to do

  • Write down the deployment in force, including a missing brief, a missing name or no control room.
  • Decide whether the information that has arrived is enough to move people.
  • Set two competing revisions side by side and test each against what the named points can do.
  • Name who leaves each point, who arrives and who stays until relief is in place.
  • Change the search standard at a point without inventing a ratio, and record whether the people already admitted were told.

What the chapters cover

  • Confirming the deployment now in force
  • Deciding whether new information calls for a revised deployment
  • Moving staff and changing the search standard at a point
  • Briefing each point in words it can use
  • When the client wants staff moved against your advice
  • The written revised deployment

Thirteen chapters follow the job in order, with thirteen quick-reference cards you may copy for use at your own event. Worked examples are composite illustrations, not accounts of real events.

Tactical titles are for the person coordinating several posts or departments once the plan has to change on the day. OTAS Live publishes 30 handbooks across ten areas of event work, each at Operational, Tactical and Strategic level.

Three levels in Security and Protective Operations

Each area of event work is covered at Operational, Tactical and Strategic level, so the series follows the job from the post on the ground to the decisions around it.
