For the person holding the working pack. You issue a version other departments can use, withdraw the old one and name who still has it.
What you will be able to do
- Name the version of the pack in force.
- Record five fields for every version: number, time, owner, what changed and who was told.
- Withdraw a version that cannot stay.
- Take last week's pack out of use and name who still has it.
- Keep the words the same as they travel between departments.
What the chapters cover
- The pack now in force, and competing versions
- Number, time, owner, what changed, who was told
- Withdrawing the old version
- When a department is still on the withdrawn version
- Documents this pack does not replace
- Handover of the working pack
Thirteen chapters follow the job in order, with thirteen quick-reference cards you may copy for use at your own event. Worked examples are composite illustrations, not accounts of real events.
Tactical titles are for the person coordinating several posts or departments once the plan has to change on the day. OTAS Live publishes 30 handbooks across ten areas of event work, each at Operational, Tactical and Strategic level.
UK law, nation by nation
Law as checked in September 2026, with England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland named separately.
Three levels in Event Records and Review
Each area of event work is covered at Operational, Tactical and Strategic level, so the series follows the job from the post on the ground to the decisions around it.
- Operational 10.1 What Gets Written on the Day
- Tactical 10.2 The Working Pack and Version Control (this book)
- Strategic 10.3 After-Action Review and the Event File
